-Pearl Harbor. It is the location of probably one of the most famous World War II events. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked the American naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This event resulted in the United States being involved in the events of World War II.
-Auschwitz. This is where the Holocaust took place. Millions of Jews were murder at the order of Hitler. A visit to Auschwitz is an interesting but sad history lesson.
-Stalingrad. The battle of Stalingrad was one of the major battles during World War II. The German armies together with their allies fought the Soviet Union for the control of Stalingrad. This was the bloodiest battle in the history of warfare. Two million people lost their lives near Stalingrad between July 17, 1942 and February 2, 1943. The casualties included civilian casualties as well.
-Many places in the UK, France, Poland, and Germany witnessed some of the events from World War II. The locations are many, and they would take a long time to visit.
-Start by visiting San Marino. San Marino is a very small country that borders Italy. The official language is Italian. It is one of the oldest countries in the world founded in 301 rich in history and culture. Only thirty thousand people live in this country making it one of the smallest republics in the world.
-Do not miss Montenegro located in South-East Europe. If you watched James Bond, you might recall Montenegro from the movie. Montenegro is another small country rich in history and culture. The country is located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. This is another great tourist destination in the Mediterranean. The economy of Montenegro is based on tourism.
-Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This is the only world’s Grand Duchy. Visiting this part of Europe can be a great history lesson as the country is home to many old castles, monasteries, etc. that go back to the early middle ages.
Australia is the smallest continent in the world located far away from the United States and Europe. However, each year many North Americans as well as Europeans decide to travel to this exotic location. Before you decide to visit Australia, keep in mind a few things:
-Summers and winters are different in Australia. Whenever it is summer in the United States, it is winter in Australia. Whenever it is winter in the United States, it is summer in Australia. You will need to get used to celebrating Christmas in the middle of the summer if you decide to spend some time in Australia.
-Australia is an exotic destination. You will come across animals that are exclusive to this continent only. Beware of traveling in Australia on your own. You might encounter dangerous places where traveling is not recommended.
-Even though Australia is such an exotic destination, people living there are not that much different from North Americans or Europeans. The official language is English. The Australian population consists mainly of British descendants with some people coming from nearby South-East Asian countries.
-Be prepared for a long trip to Australia. It might take you even up to 20 hours to travel to this part of the world. If you plan a 14-day vacation in Australia, traveling there and coming back might take you even up to four days. Remember also about the time change.
Malta is a small country located on a few islands in the Mediterranean. Not everybody has heard of this country, but some of those who have heard about it decided to retire there. Here are only some reasons why it is a good idea to retire in Malta:
-Almost everybody in Malta speaks English. English is also one of the two official languages in Malta. Due to the British presence is the past, Malta has strong ties with the UK.
-The climate in Malta is very attractive. Summers are hot with no rain at all, while winters are mild with no snow. Decembers can feel like spring or even summers in North Europe or North America.
-Malta is affordable to foreign visitors especially from Western Europe or North America. Renting an apartment or a house can be affordable and inexpensive.
-There are many great things to do in Malta. Malta is a country rich in history and culture. Almost every city is home to at least a few tourist destinations that are worth visiting. Malta also has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. People in Malta swim in the sea from May to October, although some decide to swim throughout the entire year.
